The Committee for the Advancement of the Science of Firearm & Toolmark Identification
(Ad Hoc)


This committee will have the following goals:

  • To actively advocate the advancement of the discipline and stand prepared to respond to requests from the media, research entities, and any other appropriate bodies regarding requests for information on the science of Firearm and Toolmark Identification.

  • To draft appropriate responses and/or statements and making them available through the Board of Directors for dissemination to the membership and the public.

  • To review the NAS Report on Ballistic Imaging and prepare a response from AFTE.

  • To prepare a position statement on the current condition of the Science of Firearm and Toolmark Identification.
