Family Assistance Committee (ad hoc)

Position-Specific Duties for AFTE Chairperson
Committee: Family Assistance Committee

This is a newly formed committee and many of the duties of the Chairperson and Members are not yet well defined. Some of the duties under Committee Formation are expected to be non-reoccurring and will be removed from the list after completion.

Committee Formation:

  • Develop a document to inform surviving family members or executors that assistance is available through AFTE and to provide contact instructions

  • Work with Committee members to develop a clearly stated purpose and guidelines for the Family Assistance Committee

  • Identify and recruit AFTE member volunteers with special expertise and knowledge in the value of and market for Firearms, Ammunition and related Books and other materials and methods and requirements for liquidating these specialized collections

  • Inform the membership of AFTE of the purpose of the Family Assistance Committee and its need for volunteers.

Responsibilities of the Chairperson:

  • Make sure all AFTE members, especially new members, have copies of the Family Assistance Instruction document
  • Insure that list of Committee Experts is complete and up-to-date with current contact information
  • Recruit new AFTE member volunteer experts
  • Insure that Committee Experts understand their role and purpose
  • Act as a clearinghouse for any requests for assistance
  • Follow up on requests to ensure that appropriate help has been rendered
  • Solicit and summarize reports of Committee members activities and report this to the AFTE Board of Directors
