Journal OCR Committee (Ad Hoc)

The goal of this committee is to convert each and every scientific article in the AFTE Newsletters and Journals from 1969 to 1996 into a word searchable format and provide them to the webmaster to incorporate into the web page.

Duties of the Chairperson

• Organize a large number of AFTE member volunteers to proofread OCR processed text.
• Scan and OCR process all AFTE Journals and Newsletters from 1969 through to 1996 (Accomplished)
• Scan and organize pictures into the proofread articles
• Submit completed articles to the AFTE web-master for posting.

Duties of the Committee Members

• Receive OCR processed articles from the Chairman, and proofread the article as compared to an original hardcopy.
• Send the proofread articles back to the chairman.
• Select members of this committee may be asked to scan images from Journals and send them to the chairman.
   

*OCR = Optical Character Recognition, a computerized method of converting a typed page into fully editable text.
