Member of the Year Committee Duties

The Member of the Year Committee was originally proposed in October, 1972 by then President Art Paholke.  It was originally called the “Man of the Year” award.  Monty Lutz was appointed as the first chairman.  The purpose of the committee was to award “that AFTE member who has assisted the association in an outstanding manner”.  Also, at that time, the final selection of the individual selected would be decided upon by open membership vote.  Somewhere along the line, that selection process was replaced by the committee putting forth a nominee to be voted on by the Board of Directors, as it is today.  As best can be determined, the name change to Member of the Year came about in 1976.

The duty of the members of the committee is to gather information from fellow members as to what fellow AFTE members are doing around the association that might warrant consideration of this award as it pertains to assisting AFTE.

Future goals include the solicitation of help via the AFTE Journal and Web Site to help in gathering information for making a selection.

If you know of an AFTE member who has been involved with or has done exemplarily service for AFTE and should be considered as a candidate for Member of the Year to send your recommendations to the Chair of the Member of the Year Committee

No financial considerations are involved with the operation of the committee.
