Application Instructions

APPLICANT INSTRUCTION SHEET
PROVISIONAL AND REGULAR APPLICANTS

Instructions:

  1. Please review the Bylaws. If you feel that you qualify for membership in AFTE, complete and return the enclosed application form.

  2. All questions be answered. Use additional pages as necessary.

  3. A copy of your C.V. (or resume) must accompany your completed application form.

  4. Be sure to attach an ID photograph of the appropriate size to the back of your application.

  5. The Application fee is $135.00 for Provisional Membership ($35 of this amount is a non-refundable application fee. Upon acceptance the remaining $100 will be applied toward the first years membership dues. If for any reason the you are not granted Membership, the remaining $100 will be refunded.) If you are accepted as a Provisional member, your name will be placed on the roster and you will be eligible to receive the AFTE Journal. There is no application fee for Provisional members applying for an upgrade to Regular membership, if the applicant=s dues are current.

  6. Applicants for Provisional membership must submit letters of recommendation from three (3) Regular or Provisional Members of the Association. In the event the applicant is unable to obtain letters of recommendation from three (3) AFTE Members, a letter of explanation shall be attached to the application indicating the reason(s). In the absence of three AFTE members who are knowledgeable enough to comment on the merits of the applicant, the Board of Admissions may consider recommendations from judges, prosecuting attorneys, defense attorneys, and/or the equivalent as stated in the AFTE Bylaws in Article III, Section 2, Part (A)(1)(d).

    If you are applying for upgrade to Regular Membership the typewritten or printed name, title, complete phone number and signatures of three (3) REGULAR members of AFTE are required on the second page of the application. These same individuals must provide letters of recommendation and a Certificate Of Applicant Qualification (one from each reference), which must accompany your application package to be reviewed by the Board of Admissions.

    The AFTE Advisory Committee has assumed the responsibility of reviewing applications for Provisional members who wish to upgrade to Regular membership, but who have no available members to write recommendations. The committee will review the work product of the applicant and offer letters of recommendation on their behalf, as necessary, to afford the applicant the opportunity of continued membership in the association.  For more information on this service click here.
     

  7. Send your completed application package to me at the address below. Your completed application must include the following:

  1. The completed application with photo I.D.

  2. Curriculum Vitae

  3. Three (3) letters of recommendation

  4. Three (3) A Certificate Of Applicant Qualification@ (one from each reference) if applying for upgrade to Regular membership

  5. a check for $135 made payable to AFTE (Provisional Members only)

Upon receipt by me, the application is recorded and reviewed. If all elements of the application have not been properly completed, it will be returned to you. Otherwise, it will be forwarded to the Board of Admissions for review. We thank you for your interest in the Association.
