The information
contained in this summary of the AFTE Training Seminar is very brief,
may contain some minor errors in spelling and may be somewhat
incomplete. If anyone sees an error or has information that will
fill in a few holes please contact the webmaster and corrections will
be made. Pictures seen in the summary are a compilation of just
a few taken by Evan Thompson, David Tanner, and myself. As
pictures are compiled from other sources a slide show will be created
and featured here on AFTE.org. Also, Evan Thompson wrote to say
that if anyone would like a CD of all of the pictures taken at the
seminar send $5.00 (to cover shipping/handling) to Evan and he will
get one to you (Check the roster for Evan's mailing address).
Thanks, Scott

AUDITING FOR QUALITY
David Epstein, NFSTC, Largo, FL
A sound audit program is a critical tool
for quality improvement and for meeting external standards, such as
accreditation criteria. This workshop will cover sound auditing practices,
developing an audit program, and performing corrective actions. The ASCLD/LAB
accreditation program will be used as the example external standards, with
the focus being on the criteria that most affect Firearm and Toolmark
examiners.
REGISTRATION
The Host Committee did an excellent job
throughout the week and registration of attendees went off without a
hitch.
RECEPTION
A reception sponsored by Forensic Technologies
and the Host Committee was held Sunday evening. A very good time was
had by everyone. A Mariachi Band entertained all in attendance as
did the staff from FTI manning the "Lemonade" stand.
