2007 Banquet, Thursday, May 31st.

Host Committee welcoming remarks were given by Andy Smith.  Andy announced that the 2007 AFTE Training seminar had 361 registered attendees.  There were 88 first-time attendees, with 43 states and 14 countries represented.  Fifty-two papers were presented at the meeting and there were 17 Exhibitors.
 

Invocation

The 2007 AFTE Training Seminar Banquet was opened with the invocation given by AFTE Past President Dom Denio.

Introductions

Outgoing AFTE President Loren Sugarman gave opening remarks.

Presentations

Steve Molnar Award

Annalisa Lacalamita presented the Steve Molnar/Key Member Award to Mike Haag.

 

Member of the Year

Richard Maruoka announced the member-of-the year award winner was Jerry Miller.  Jerry wasn't able to attend the meeting and Mike Neal accepted the award for Jerry.

Distinguished Members

There were four Distinguished members announced by Loren Sugarman.  They were Scott Glass, Greg Scala, John Mancini, and Deborah Chaklos.  Deborah can be seen below accepting her Distinguished Member Award.

Emeritus Member

Emeritus Members Joe Masson, Jr. and Jack Dillon were announced.

Joe Masson was not in attendance but accepting for him was Ron Marrs.

AFTE Certification Recipients

Mike Neal, Certification Committee Chair, announced AFTE members who had successfully completed Certification tests in the fields of Firearms Identification, Gunshot Residue and/or Toolmarks were:

Andy Smith, John Sanchez, Alan Hammond, and Curtis Kubo

AFTE Scholarship Awards

Alison Quereau, Scholarship Committee Chair, announced the recipients of this year's scholarship awards.  Detailed information regarding the recipients will be posted to the website at a later date.  Also in attendance was Judge Barbara Howe.

Recognition of the Host Committee

AFTE 2007 Host Committee was recognized for their hard work in providing an outstanding training seminar in San Francisco.  Members of the host committee can be seen below.

Outgoing President's Awards

Loren Sugarman presented awards of appreciation to past AFTE presidents Dom Denio and Ann Davis.

Introduction of Incoming President

Outgoing president Loren Sugarman passed the AFTE Gavel to incoming president Carlo Rosati. 

 

Additional Awards

Calvin Goddard Award

Forensic Technologies announced this year's Calvin Goddard Award recipient was AFTE past president John Ward.

Best Paper Award

Andy Smith presented the Best Paper Award to Zak Carr of the Kansas Bureau of Investigation.

Additional Acknowledgements

John Sanchez presented an award to Mike Giusto for his hard work in creating several firearm cut-away's for the AFTE Raffle.
