The technical papers presented at the AFTE 2010 41st Annual Training Seminar in Henderson, NV were recorded and have been compiled into a 4-disc DVD set that is available for purchase to AFTE members.  Credit card purchases can be made on-line and mail orders can be placed with a check or agency purchase order.  Additionally, DVDs from the 2005 through 2009 Training Seminars are also available for purchase.  Click here for more details.

The application period for admission to the 2010-2011 session of the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives (ATF) National Firearms Examiner Academy (NFEA) has been extended. The previous deadline for applications was June 30, 2010. Due to requests from State and local laboratory systems that needed additional time to gain approval through their chain of command the application period has been extended to July 30, 2010. The Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives (ATF), National Firearms Examiner Academy (NFEA) at the National Laboratory Center, Ammendale, MD, is now accepting applications for the 2010-2011 NFEA training session. The NFEA provides a one year training for apprentice/entry level firearm and toolmark examiners from Federal, state and local law enforcement agencies. The Academy curriculum is composed of the fundamentals of firearms & toolmark examinations and serves as a basis for the trainee to develop into a qualified firearm and toolmark examiner. The Spring 2010 edition of the AFTE News has been posted on the website.  This edition of the AFTE News has two proposed bylaws changes along with the new slate of BOD members as proposed by the Nominating Committee that will be voted on at our Annual Training Seminar in Henderson, NV in five weeks.  Please take the time to review these proposed changes before the AFTE Business Meeting.

At the Mid-Year Meeting, the Board of Directors discussed a project to update the information of the entire membership for a downloadable Membership Directory.  The BOD is asking that all members review their membership information for accuracy and make what changes are appropriate.  The BOD has set a deadline of March 1, 2010.  Any changes made after this date cannot be guaranteed to be reflected in this Directory.
